C A R I S S A L A M: Budapest 2016

16 March 2016

Budapest 2016

 Last stop: Budapest.
So after our visit to Vienna and Bratislava, we arrived at our final destination! We spent 3 days to explore Budapest and it was really beautiful! We visited some tourist attractions such as the Chain Bridge, Buda Castle, Hungarian Parliament Building, St. Stephen's Basilica, Fisherman's Bastion, Liberty Bridge, Matthias Church, Danube River, the House of Terror and the Liberty Statue. We wanted to check out the famous Szechenyi thermal bath, but the weather was so cold so we decided to give it a miss.
On the first day we arrived, it was raining so we didn't do much, but luckily the other two days were really sunny!

There were trams everywhere, just like in Vienna and Bratislava.

Little tea break :)

Fisherman's Bastion.
Matthias Church.

The Liberty Bridge (Green Bridge).
It was such a cold day, and it was extra windy on the bridge!

St. Stephen's Basilica. It looks so grand!
We were starving afterwards, so we went to a food market!
Tried some Hungarian sausage - i'm actually not a big fan of sausages, but I was hungry and when you're hungry you'd eat anything haha! this was actually not bad, but a bit salty!
At a pancake stall - we decided to create our own pancakes by picking our toppings.
Mine was more like a doughnut not a pancake, and it had a vanilla filling. I had bananas and strawberries as the toppings :P It was so yummy! My friend on the other hand had a savoury kind of pancake!
 The Hungarian Parliament Building.

Then we went to ARAZ restaurant to have dinner and meet up with friends from uni who were also in Budapest! :O

This dish was delicious - Goose drumstick with red cabbage, fried apple and mashed potato.
Chocolate dessert.
Liberty Statue.

It was sad to leave such a lovely place as Budapest, but we had to head back to the UK and start Semester 2 at uni - back to reality :( But the overall Vienna-Bratislava-Budapest trip was a really good break! I hope to travel more in the future and explore different places and cultures, it's so refreshing! Have you been to Budapest before? Feel free to share your experiences in the comments! I would love to hear from you :)
